After the failure of the Atari 800, Jack Tramiel bought Atari and created a 16 bit Motorola 68000 CPU with half a meg of RAM, a built in keyboard, mouse and colour output to your TV.

It's competitor the Amiga 500 was the choice for Gamers, whilst programmers had the Acorn Archimedes – but for musicians, there was only one computer worth having in the '80s: the Atari ST
