Gangsters

About Gangsters

The Specials came from Coventry and their music was a cocktail of sixties soul Jamaican ska and black music played with frantic exuberance; combine this with a multi-cultural monochrome imagery led to svengali and Specials founder member Jerry Dammers finding he had engineered a winning pop formula.

What's interesting

The Two Tone movement major success was to shift dance music with DJ's playing records in nightclubs back to going along for a dance to a live performing band.
