Following from the success of the Green Lantern, The Flash and Aquaman's revisions for more modern times, Chief DC editor Julie Schwartz commissioned a new super-hero team to be assembled.

What's interesting

The usual fun of the characters meeting and team formation is bypassed as the JLA are already assembled from the outset of the the story, but nice to see the hint of a larger team which included Worlds Finest Superman and Batman who only had cameo appearances in the JLA's early issues.
