The first Shazam issue was advertised initially as following the outgoing numbering scheme in this case DC-23 But when released, the issue followed the continuity numbering system of the regular Shazam title #8 The first wave of this new strategy sadly had no new material and contained all reprinted stories

Back in this era there was the notion that comics purchased to keep children temporarily entertained and more importantly quite But disposing of items was frowned upon so many items were swapped between friends until the idea they may actually be worth something if kept long enough was beginning to formulate in savvy kids minds.
